BCCI Decides to Postpone IPL 2020 until 15 April due to Global Pandemic Coronavirus.

A Precautionary Measure

In a concerned and precautionary measure, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to postpone the 13th edition of the Indian Premier Leagu (IPL) 2020 until 15th April due to global pandemic Coronavirus. Although it is a bad news for the cricket lovers but it was the need of the hour.

Earlier Schedule

The 13th edition of IPL was scheduled to be held between March 29th and May 24th. BCCI decided this a day before the IPL Governing Council (GC) meet in Mumbai. BCCI’s decision will brush all the apprehensions aside for a while. The board will decide about the format and venues later on. This decision to postpone IPL due to global pandemic coronavirus is for the safety of cricket fans.

Directions to Ban the Availability of Tickets

This decision has been taken in view of the directions given by Sports Ministry of India. The ministry has directed all sports federations to organise all events indoors, if they are inevitable.
Further, in a proactive decision the Maharashtra state government has also barred sale of IPL tickets in the state. Delhi government has already asked cinema halls to remain closed till March 31st.
BCCI will work in accordance with the Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry of Health and Family welfare in this regards.

A Praiseworthy Decision to Beat Coronavirus

Evidently, this decision is a praiseworthy one. The main motive of this decision is to maintain social distancing. Hopefully, this could prove to be an effective weapon against global pandemic coronavirus.People must support this decision because it is for their benefit only. We know that India is a country where cricket is a religion. So, it becomes a passion for all the cricket lovers. This pandemic has not only put many sports activities on hold but it has held the breath of sports lovers at halt also. This pandemic has also forced us to avoid social gathering because India has large population of about 1.3 million.

Expected Gathering in the Stadiums of Metropolitan Cities

If there is a venue of any IPL fixture in one of the metropolitan cities then the expected gathering could be approximately upto thirty thousand in each of the stadiums. Therefore we can say that it was important to postpone IPL because of coronavirus threat. Social gathering is a feature of any game but unfortunately it is the negative strength of coronavirus. That’s why we have to wait and watch for the next update regarding IPL 2020.So, all the cricket fans stay tuned with BCCI for latest update about IPL.
