Sheila Dikshit was the longest served politician in the history of Indian politics. She served for around 15 years. She was born on 31st March 1938 in Kapurthala Punjab into a Punjabi Khatri family. Her Father’s name was Sanjay Kapoor. She passed out from Convent of Jesus and marry School in New Delhi and graduated with a Master of Arts degree in history from Miranda House at the University of Delhi. Later she joined the political career with Indian National Congress. She got married to Vinod Dikshit and have 2 children Sandeep Dikshit and Latika Dikshit Syed.

Political Career

She started her political career in the year 1984 with the joining of the Ministry of State for Parliamentary Affairs in the ruling session of Rajiv Gandhi (Prime Minister) between 1984-1989.  After that in between 1984-1989, she joined or declared Member of the Indian delegation, United Nations Commission on the Status of women, in the ruling of Indra Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. She was also the art of Member of Legislative Assembly, New Delhi from 4th December 2008 to 28th December 2013.

In the year’s duration of 1998-2008, she was a member of the Legislative Assembly of the Gole market. She became the 6th Chief minister of Delhi from the year 1998 to 2013. She was the 22nd Governor of Kerala from 11th March 2014 to 4th September 2014. And recently when she slept in Peace, she was in power with Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee from 11th January 2019 to 20th July 2019.

Last Day of Our Brave Lady

According to the various news channels and newsletters, CM Sheila Dikshit passed on 20th July 2019.  She passed away at the age of 81 on Saturday. She was hospitalized in Escorts Forties in Delhi. After that, she complained of vomiting, on Saturday morning.

Sheila Dikshit served as a Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 long years (1998-2013). She was the longest-serving CM of Delhi till now.
